" After reading this
book, I was amazed
about all the different uses for paper flowers.

The details and the
step-by-step
instructions make it
simple to follow.

My seven year old
daughter and I sat
down and made several of the designs
demonstrated in your
book and totally
enjoyed ourselves.

I recommend to anyone wanting to learn how to make paper flowers to purchase this book. "

- Raquel R.

" I bought your book to give to my daughter in-law and granddaughter, after printing it out I was reading it and decided to try one of the flowers, so I grabbed some tissues
and followed your instructions, to my surprise I had something that looked like a flower.

I found I had enjoyed myself and had a sense of pride at what I had just done.

Thank you. Is it OK to make another copy that I can use when my
granddaughter comes over for visits so we can make flowers together.

Thank you, "

- Rebecca H.

Jude Miller

According to an interview in Garden Illustrated, March, 2006, Jude Miller
began making crepe paper flowers in the 1990’s. She got her first instructions from a Dennison instruction booklet, just as so many of us did.

Today she makes “botanical sculptures,” painstakingly correct renditions of all sorts of flowers from wild flowers to roses.
The interview quotes Ms. Miller, “Crepe paper is magical stuff. It has a sort of elastic quality and a grain so it can be layered and cut on the bias as you would fabric.”

The interview quotes Ms. Miller, “Crepe paper is magical stuff. It has a sort of elastic quality and a grain so it can be layered and cut on the bias as you would fabric.”

Ms. Miller spends hours studying individual flowers before she begins to sculpt them in crepe paper. She works on difficult-to-reproduce flowers, sometimes making molds to make sure the petals curve just as she wants them to.

She’s had to invent techniques for reproducing flowers in such intricate detail that they are exhibited at Horticultural Societies.

She uses varnishes, beads, colored thread and silk organza as well as the materials we’re used to—crepe paper, wire and adhesives.

She works only by commission, starting at $300.00. So, you see, it’s worth the time to practice techniques.

Take a moment to visit her website www.judemiller.com to study some of her creations and read the full interview.

THE ART OF MAKING PAPER FLOWERS

Making paper flowers is one of the most fun and favorite crafts of children and adults alike and they are making a come back today just like they did many years ago. One of the best reasons is paper flowers are limited only by the amount of imagination and creativity you are willing to apply. In today's electronic age there seems to be very little opportunity to develop anyone's creative abilities. There are Some teachers of kindergarden and scout leaders that are using this craft as a means of letting the children express their own creativity. Even our teens could benefit from this skill for some of their school projects. Paper flower making was always one of my favorite crafts as a child and still is. more:-->

RETRO ARTISTIC FLOWERS
An old fascinating craft is making artificial flowers, in Victorian days they were made out of scraps of silk and other materials.  But when crepe paper was founded the art of paper flower making was truly brought about.  Now in these days paper flower making looks real enough to make you think they are, and you may catch yourself stopping to smell them.  You may find this craft is so intriguing you may want it as a hobby.  There is a thrill about feeling the paper blossoming into flowers right in your own fingers.      more:-->

May Day Is Around the Corner

The Perfect Craft for Nursing Homes

Making crepe paper flowers is an ideal project for nursing homes. No super skills are needed to create an attractive finished product—and most residents will remember making them as children. Crepe paper flowers have been out of style for some years, but now Martha Stewart has helped make them popular again.

With so many flower-making projects to choose from, it is easy to find one that suits the ability of each resident. If arthritic hands make cutting difficult, the facilitator can cut leaves and petals for several residents by stacking layers of crepe paper, stapling it together, and cutting around the pattern through all the layers at once.  more:-->
